5 Rhythms

Dancing the 5 Rhythms offers a multidimensional experience. We move from being grounded in the flow of our energy into expressing our fire, from where we can let go into the wildness of our dance. Letting go opens us on a deeper level in our heart and essence.

This dance path is a beautiful doorway to explore different topics, aspects, and energies of ourselves in a grounded and playful way.

Topic of the weekend

In this weekend we will explore the dance of living FULL ON.

We grow up in a culture where doing your best, working and trying hard is appreciated so much. But the actual effect of it is that we get tired, overloaded and lose the connection with ourselves, life and the people around us. Burnout is nowadays a collective experience in human beings.

How this works

Dance and meditation offer us a totally different approach: When we are connected to our source, grounded in the body and we let ourselves go deeply and without holding anything back in our energy in the dance, the energy starts to flow freely and we receive so much back. Instead of burning out, the energy burns in. That means it can lighten up our being, open our heart, deepen our presence.

Integration into life

Living like this can have a deep impact on your life. When we start living life to the fullest, we live in the present moment, in alignment with our body, heart and soul.

Frozen parts in us can melt and life energy becomes circular, which means that there is a natural balance between giving and receiving.

We learn to distinguish between the unhealthy power in us which is pushing and what is our authentic life energy which wants to grow and develop naturally. We take an honest look at our life – Where do we live full-hearted and where do we compromise and lose our energy?

This weekend is an invitation to live life creatively, inspired and in Abundance. 

You are welcome to explore this with us in this weekend. One afternoon we will do the powerful Breath meditation. Breath is a direct portal to our being. This breath meditation has been developed by Naropa. Mati has been combining dance, meditation and breath in her work, both individually and in groups since 2018.

About Mati (NL)

I was trained by Gabrielle Roth in 1998 and since then I have been teaching intensively in Holland and other European countries. In 2004 I completed the Heartbeat training. Besides that, I have trained with many different teachers in the areas of meditation, tantra, breath & bodywork. I have also attended Vipassana retreats regularly during the past ten years.

Since 2008 I have been deeply connected with Naropa and he has trained me to give breath meditations. My love is both for dance and for meditation and I combine these two loves in a unique way. In my experience dance is a uniquely enjoyable, effortless and direct practice to get into the body and open the Heart.

What to Expect

on the Dance Floor

On Friday, we’ll dance a foundational wave that is open to both those who don’t know Mati yet and those who simply love the joy of dancing. For those of you planning to join us for the weekend, this is a great way to start—we recommend using Friday’s dance evening to tune in and connect with the movement and the group.

On Saturday and Sunday, we’ll dive deeper into the workshop theme. Dance will be the main focus of the weekend. In addition, we’ll explore a few guided exercises, and dedicate one afternoon to a powerful breath meditation developed by Naropa. Breath offers a direct gateway into our being. Mati has been combining dance, breath, and meditation in her work with individuals and groups since 2018.

A Few Practical Details:

The dance hall opens half an hour before the program starts. It’s a good idea to arrive with enough time to change comfortably and settle into the space. We’ll support this transition with gentle music.

The weekend workshop will be held in English. Czech translation will be provided.

The sessions will run in three-hour blocks with a one-hour lunch break.

You’re welcome to bring a light lunch with you. We can enjoy a shared meal together, or you’re free to visit a nearby café or restaurant. If you’d like to join the communal lunch, we encourage a potluck-style meal—everyone brings a little something, and together we create a rich and varied table.
